QUARTER BEARS
HISTORY

EACH BEAR COMES WITH THE FOLLOWING FEATURES:
Each bear is 8 inches tall. Clear vinyl pocket on right chest to hold coin. State name, Statehood year and number embroidered on left chest. Mint year embroidered on top of right ear. State flag embroidered on the back. United States flag embroidered on the bottom of right foot.

The Quarter Bears™ are being released in sets of five per year to coincide with the mint's release of the State Quarters. Currently the five 1999, the five 2000, the five 2001 and the five 2002 Quarter Bears™ are available, as well as a few random early releases including Texas, California, Florida, Maine, Hawaii, and Oklahoma.

Quarter Bears™ are the first collectibles to combine three of the most popular collector categories:
Coins, Bears and Beanbags.
People are collecting our Quarter Bears™ for a variety of reasons, they are educational, attractive, high quality and unique in design. The final design of the bear reflects in color and composition the physical and historical aspects of the particular state in a subtle way. For example, the South Carolina Bear is made with a fleecy material that gives the feel of cotton reflecting the State's history. The Maryland Bear is black because the State has black bears and the flag has a good deal of black in it.

The first production run of the 1999 release - Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Georgia and
Connecticut was made with a Blue and White tag. That run was only 3,600 units. The tag was then changed tag to Gold and blue. The production with the Blue and White tag is being snapped up and has increased in value substantially.

The entire 1999 release and the 2000 Sacagawea  retired on July 01, 2001. The 2001 Sacagawea will be retiring by May 1, 2003, or sooner as supply is depleted.
